Drohkaal is about our times. Abhay Singh, police officer and interrogation expert, is deployed in an area of intense terrorist activity. The police force here is under constant pressure, both mental and physical. Abhay draws a great deal of strength from his warm and intense relationship with his wife Sumitra and from his mentor in the police force, IGP Pathak.

Abhay is part of an under cover police operation (code named operation "Dhanush") to infiltrate the dreaded Bhadra Terrorist Group. The officer in charge of the operation is Abhay's close friend Abbas Lodhi. Abhay is the only other Officer, besides DGP Kapoor, who knows about the Operation. The infiltrators, two specially trained young police officers, get themselves well entrenched in the group and regularly pass key information to the police.

Abbas is very proud of the way this operation is going: lnspite of this the Bhadra Group is able to pull of major terrorist attacks on well-guarded targets. Bhadra, the erudite and ruthless commander of the terrorist group has spread tentacles far and wide too. He has key police officers working for him from within the force. He has access to almost all top secret information, except on operation "Dhanush". He is only aware of its existence and that his group has been infiltrated by the police. His inability to nail the mole in his group has driven to a state of paranoia.

A series of violent incidents bring Abhay Singh face to face with Bhadra. Bhadra's fiendish commitment to his cause, his ruthlessness, his seductive logic and his sheer strength become evident to Abhay as he gets entangled in an intricate network of deceit and betrayal. Under unrelenting pressure, Abhay experiences a crippling loss of faith and control. In his fractured state he is unequal to the onslaught that Bhadra mounts on him and his family. The action he takes pulls him into the fearsome vortex of a moral nightmare from which there is only one way out.
